SMS is a non profit organization running at the grass root level working for a holistic development, comprising of an egalitarian, aware, well-informed, skilled, healthy, cultured humans in a peaceful and ecologically sustainable environment. Founded by Archana Kaul, NeelamThapliyal, DrKusumSabherwal and some more women.

Though registered under societies act 2003, the initiatives origin dates back to 2002. Since inception SMS has worked towards holistic development of women and children The efforts are en route for creating a classless , aware, healthy , literate skilled and cultured individuals in a peaceful and ecological sustainable environment

• Empowerment through education and culture. Cultural inputs include art, craft, dance and theatre.To build a strong foundation of education (including IT) among students.
• Building soft skills and self empowerment of all women, and their families.
• Facilitation for legal counseling and linking beneficiaries to free legal aid.
• Enhancing income generation capacity via the training in Basic Computer Application and English speaking workshops.
• Promoting handicrafts; training women to make these; and helping them to generate income by facilitating market linkages.
• Establishing linkages of beneficiaries with government welfare and other schemes.
• To build a strong volunteer(students and professional and others) base to carry forward mission of SMS, with a rights based approach.

GOONJ strongly belives in Human rights and welfare. GOONJ has undertaken several projects which has shown utmost commitment to make this world a better place. Annually deal with over 3000 tons of material.Annually initiates over 2500 development activities under its flagship initiative'Cloth for work'(CFW): from repairing roads, recharging water ponds, building bamboo bridges to digging wells. Rural communities receive clothes & other material as reward for their labor.Some macro outcomes of this multi sectoral work; Long term impact on curbing migration, improved sanitation & health and enhancing economic activities etc. A systematic approach to large scale disaster relief & rehabilitation work with many innovative ideas.Income generation initiatives like Sujni, school bags making, Vapsi to bring back disaster hit local economy to normalcy.
